What is Pro Tools certification?

Avid Technology (the maker of Pro Tools) has created a comprehensive curriculum aimed at providing students the opportunity to advance their skills and raise their profile through their official certified status.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned expert, you’ll find a course that meets you where you are now, and gives you the practical training you need to take your career to the next level. When you’re done with the training, you’ll have the option of taking an Avid certification exam — after you pass it, you’ll be internationally listed as a Pro Tools certified Specialist, Professional, or Expert.

Avid official certification courses are taught by Avid Certified Instructors, who are themselves trained by an Avid Master Instructor. At Maru Audio Training, you’ll learn directly from the source — the Avid Master Instructor that authored many of the Avid certification courses.

Why get certified?

Online discussions about certification can get, let’s say, spirited. The main argument against certification is that skills and experience that matters, and nothing else. While it’s true that it’s what you can do that counts, this argument ignores the fact that experience as a studio intern is no longer the only way (or even the best way) to gain those skills.

In the modern world, training comes in all shapes and sizes, and today’s main question is where to get the quality training that you need. If you’ve already started that search, you’ve found that YouTube is a very mixed bag, and most manufacturers’ tutorials are little more than sales demos.

Avid certification, on the other hand, is quality training, with real-world exercises and assessments that will ensure not only that you can pass the test, but that you can deliver results through hands-on practice. Online and Onsite certification

Maru’s public certification courses are offered online (including both self-directed learning and live sessions). We also offer certification courses at clients’ sites, enabling for more direct engagement and customized delivery. If you’re a studio that is interested in getting your team certified, onsite certified training has the advantage of a custom course delivery, as well as using your own studio’s systems.

For students pursuing Pro Tools Expert certification, onsite training is required, due to the extensive hands-on certification exam.
